Best Camping Knife Brands – Reviewed

If you are in the market for a new camping knife you may be wondering what are the best camping knife brands to choose from?  I’ve compiled a list of the best camping knife brands that I would recommend.  There may be other camping knife brands out there but these are the ones I’m familiar with.

When buying a new camping knife it really comes down to what you plan on using it for.  Are you looking for a nice knife that you only use occasionally or are you looking for a knife that can stand up to everyday abuse?

Morakniv

I’m really a fan of Morakniv knives for the price point you really can’t beat them.  Morakniv is based in Mora, Sweden and has been making knives since 1891.  Morakniv offers a limited lifetime warranty on all of the knives that they manufacture against manufacturer defects.

I think that Morakniv makes the best camping knives for the money.  Morakniv knives are well made and are for the most part less than 20 bucks.

Morakniv knives are some of the best selling knives on Amazon and for good reason, they offer superb build quality for not a whole lot of money.

I really like the Morakniv Robust knife because of its durability and price.  For less than 20 dollars you can pick up a nice sharp camping knife that will hold up and maintain its edge.  Down the line, if the blade has a bunch of scratches and is dull then you can just replace the knife with a new one for less than a case of beer.

What really sold me on the Morakniv knife brand was this video that I saw on Youtube from dutch bushcraft knives in which they stress test the Morakniv Robust knife.

Buck Knives

Buck Knives also make really good quality knives and are some of the nicest looking knives on the market.  Buck Knives are going to be a bit more expensive than most of the other knife brands but their quality is top-notch.

Buck Knives offers a lot of different styles of knives so make sure to check out their full selection of knives before deciding on which one to choose.  Unless you want to get a couple of Buck Knives which wouldn’t be a bad option either.

Buck Knives was originally founded in San Diego, California by Hoyt Buck in 1902. Buck Knives has a long history running through five generations of the Buck family to the present day.  Buck Knives are still manufactured in the United States in Post Falls, Idaho.

While Buck Knives cost a premium compared to other knife manufacturers they sell some of the best looking knives.  So you may be paying more for a Buck Knives knife sometimes you get what you pay for.  It really depends on how you plan to use the knife.

If you are looking for a decorative knife that you only use on special occasions then I would go with a Buck Knives knife.  Now if you are looking for a camping knife that you regularly take with you on camping trips and use on tough tasks at your camping site then I would go with a cheaper knife brand like Morakniv.

Gerber

Gerber is an American company founded in 1939.  They are based out of Portland, Oregon. They make knives and other products that are geared towards hunters, soldiers, and tradesmen.  They design and engineer all of their products in their Portland, Oregon facility. Every product that Gerber makes is backed up by a lifetime warranty.

Gerber stands out because they make different knives for different purposes.  Gerber makes fixed blade camping knives of various lengths to be used for camping, hunting, and fishing.

If you are looking for a small knife that you can everyday carry then I would recommend the Gerber Ghoststrike.  The Gerber Ghoststrike is a small pocket knife that you can get with a sheath that can be attached to your belt or an ankle strap the will completely conceal the knife.
